Associate Actuary - Value Based Payments (Seattle Health)

Milliman's Seattle Health Practice is looking for an ASA with experience in health actuarial work with a focus on Value Based Payments (VBP) in government programs (Medicare, Medicaid). The position requires creative actuarial capabilities, good communication and interpersonal skills, and organizational talents. A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to lead a team of dedicated consultants are also necessary for success. We provide extensive on-the-job training in consulting skills and advanced actuarial techniques.

What We’re Looking For Professional Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field ASA designation 7+ years of healthcare actuarial experience, with at least four (4) years in a consulting or advisory role supporting health plans, state Medicaid agencies, or ACOs. Minimum of five (5) years of experience with VBP arrangements (e.g., shared savings, capitation, and other provider risk arrangements). Minimum of three (3) years leading Medicare and/or Medicaid program VBP work, including delegating work to and mentoring junior staff. Experience with current Medicare and Medicaid VBP programs (REACH/LEAD, MSSP, AHEAD, TEAM, managed Medicaid or Medicare Advantage provider risk) is a plus. Proficiency with Excel Some knowledge of SAS, SQL, Python, or R Strong understanding of the US healthcare system Demonstrable skills in presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience in an understandable way Personal Qualifications Excellent communication, both verbal and written Ability to work both independently and in team environments Seeks to learn and understand project goals in service of finding new and better ways to solve client problems Comfortable adapting existing data sources and methodologies in response client problems Can explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where client satisfaction is key Entrepreneurial spirit Individual(s) must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future. It is preferred that this employee work in-office, but remote candidates anywhere in the US will be considered. Compensation The overall salary range for this role is $88,800 - $208,380. A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc. For candidates residing in: Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia:

$102,120 - $184,460 if overall experience is less than 10 years; and $115,460 - $208,380 for experience greater than 10 years.

All other states:

$88,800 - $160,400 if overall experience is less than 10 years; and $100,400 - $181,200 for experience greater than 10 years.
