Morning Cook and Dishwasher
Reporting to the Head Chef and the House Director, the Morning Cook/Dishwasher will primarily be responsible for assisting with cooking breakfast, dishwashing, and food management, with secondary responsibilities assisting the Head Chef and Assistant Chef with the daily preparation of lunch and subsequent clean up within the sorority house.
The person in this seasonal position must be able to work 6 a .m. - 1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. during the academic year. Attendance at at least six special events each academic year as well as extended shifts during the first two weeks of August are required .
Duties
- Assist with the preparation of breakfast daily
- Assist with the care and proper storage of food supply arriving via truck twice per week
- Dishwashing and maintaining cleanliness of kitchen utensils, dishes, and work areas
- Assist with preparation of menu items in compliance with established recipes and standards
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Ensure food safety guidelines are followed at all times
- Support the culinary team with various tasks as needed
Qualifications
-Experience working in a sorority or fraternity house kitchen preferred
- Experience in the food industry or restaurant setting is preferred
- Knowledge of food handling, food safety, and basic culinary techniques
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn and help in various kitchen duties
- Basic knife skills are required
-Be available to work the following schedule:
Monday -Friday 6 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Saturday: 10:30 am - noon
Up to 6 special events a year
Extended hours the first two-three weeks in August as needed

This position is seasonal. Food service is only provided when KU is in session. Position subject to a background check. Chi Omega Fraternity, Lambda Chapter is a women’s fraternity (also known as sorority) with a membership of 300 women.
