Short Description Bowman has an opportunity for a Survey SUE Technician II to join our team in Tampa, Florida. Purpose Work outdoors using electromagnetic equipment and ground penetrating radar to detect subsurface utilities. Also perform vacuum truck operation; perform utility mark out and surveying activities; and document work with sketches, photos, spreadsheets and/or written reports. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction Perform work under moderate supervision. Receive direction on moderately complex assignments, tasks, and execution. Work is frequently reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles. Review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance. At the Operational and Company Level Locate underground utilities through nondestructive methods. Operate Data Collectors and collect field measurements. Record and document the underground utility field data accurately. Train to operate and maintain company equipment and vehicles. Train to meet company safety standards. Do the Work Operation of vacuum truck and related equipment such as compressor blower, vacuum hose and air lance, jackhammer, pogo-tamper, concrete saw, hand tools, etc. Operation of multi-frequency electromagnetic equipment including electromagnetic induction (EMI) and ground penetrating radar (GPR). Record drawing and design plans. Perform minor maintenance and troubleshoot vacuum excavation systems and related equipment. Prepare daily paperwork. Perform SUE field activities with little supervision. Train junior field staff. Success Metrics and Competencies Ability to work both independently and within a team environment. Self-reliance and ability to operate independently with limited direction. Effective working relationship with internal leaders and peers, as well as external clients. Qualifications High school diploma or GED strongly preferred. Commensurate relevant experience considered. Three or more (3+) years as SUE Technician I or related experience. Basic knowledge of Land Surveying. Ability/willingness to travel for work assignments, including occasional overnight assignments. Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and random thereafter. Physical Demands and Working Environment Primarily outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards. Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours. Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business. Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs. Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 lbs. Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
