Knowledge Lawyer (Real Estate)

Job Summary A seasoned attorney is needed as a Knowledge Lawyer for the Real Estate Group across our offices in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., or Houston. The role focuses on developing and executing a knowledge strategy, modernizing practice tools, managing knowledge resources, and providing training and support to the Group. Responsibilities Knowledge Strategy – Work with the Knowledge Partners, Knowledge Counsel, and real‑estate lawyers to assess the Group’s knowledge needs, coordinate cross‑practice efforts, define and implement a plan aligned with business goals, and review progress regularly, including AI solutions. Modernization of Practice Tools and Processes – Collaborate with Innovation, IT, and other teams to assess and support the adoption of modern tools, including artificial intelligence, for configuring and delivering legal services. Organizing and Sharing: Standard Forms and Document Collections – Create, capture, and maintain Real‑estate related knowledge content; encourage sharing across practices; coordinate consistency of forms, precedents, best practices, and memos. Current Awareness and Thought Leadership – Monitor developments in law and business, prepare newsletters, set up alerts, and produce client alerts on new developments. Lawyer Training and Technical Expertise – Identify training needs, design and deliver seminars, workshops, and off‑site trainings; train Group members on knowledge resources and mentor associates. Matter Management and Collaboration – Establish processes to capture matter descriptions, conduct post‑matter reviews, and produce closing binders and substantive precedents. People and Relationship Information – Capture and publish information about individuals with relevant knowledge in CRM systems and participate in planning and meetings of the Knowledge Department. Other Knowledge‑Related Support – Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of the Group, Knowledge Partner, or Director of Knowledge Management. Qualifications Licensed attorney with a minimum of five years of practice experience in a real‑estate related field and admission to the relevant jurisdiction. Deep subject‑matter expertise in real‑estate legal work and commercial issues, along with excellent drafting, research, and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to interact at all levels of the Firm and with vendors. Self‑starter who can work under pressure, manage shifting priorities, and handle multiple projects. Good customer‑service orientation, strategic thinking, and a pragmatic, team‑working attitude. Commitment to high professional standards and attention to detail. Salary and Benefits The typical pay scale for this position is between $255,000 and $338,000, although the actual wage may vary based on experience, education, and internal pay alignment.
