Since its founding in 1985, Queen of Peace Center (QOPC) has been providing family-centered behavioral healthcare for women, children, and families. As a member of the Federation of Catholic Charities, we serve the metropolitan and surrounding St. Louis area through four core programs: prevention, education, treatment, and housing.
Job Summary
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Queen of Peace Center, is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT). This role will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey in a residential treatment setting. Under the supervision of the Program Manager and Lead Behavioral Health Technician, the BHT provides direct client support, ensures a safe and therapeutic environment, and promotes engagement in treatment and recovery-focused activities. Responsibilities include supervising clients, facilitating therapeutic and psychoeducational groups, conducting client intakes and orientations, monitoring client progress, documenting services in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), assisting with crisis intervention, obtaining vital signs, supporting medication-related procedures, and maintaining compliance with program policies and HIPAA standards. The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, and skilled in trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, documentation, and client engagement. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping clients achieve treatment goals while fostering safety, stability, and hope in a structured residential environment. This is a full time position working a minimum of 40 hours per week and the starting wage is $18 per hour.

Job Responsibilities
OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support clients in achieving treatment goals established by the clinical treatment team.
- Provide direct supervision to ensure client safety, adherence to program expectations, and participation in scheduled activities.
- Conduct client intake and orientation procedures, including explanation of program rules and expectations.
- Perform safety checks of client belongings in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Monitor and support client participation in treatment services, therapeutic activities, groups, and daily program requirements.
- Observe, document, and communicate client behaviors, concerns, incidents, and progress in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other required documentation.
- Complete daily progress notes, group documentation, and shift reports in accordance with program standards.
- Monitor and document vital signs and conduct routine detoxification monitoring according to established protocols.
- Follow medication-related procedures and collaborate with nursing staff to support accurate medication administration and documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment, including oversight of client chores and responsibilities.
- Respond appropriately to crises, behavioral concerns, and emergency situations using approved intervention and de-escalation techniques.
- Maintain client confidentiality and protect health information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, respect, and recovery-oriented interactions with clients.
- Answer phones and communicate professionally with clients, visitors, team members, and external contacts.
- Maintain required certifications and training credentials.
- Safely operate ministry vehicles to transport clients and complete program-related errands as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Human Services, Behavioral Health, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- One (1) year of experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, residential services, healthcare, human services, or a related field preferred.
- Drivers License required (MO residents require Class E).
- CPR, First Aid, and Medication Level I certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing behavioral health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders preferred.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as needed.
