Software Engineer

Aerosol Jet® Applications EngineerThe Aerosol Jet® (AJ) Applications Engineer works with the Advanced Applications team in driving and managing the technical evaluation aspects of the sales process. The Applications team must evaluate requests from customers and develop demonstrations based on the capabilities of the AJ process and available materials. The engineer will lead hands-on demonstrations of the printing process, culminating in the fabrication of functional test parts for the customer. The engineer will also work with product engineers and scientists to advance the technology by participating in long-term R&D projects. Current areas of application and market focus include printed antennas, advanced semiconductor packaging, printed circuits, medical devices, printed heaters, and embedded sensors.Responsibilities:Work with customers to specify device performance requirementsWork with commercial material suppliers to specify application material requirementsFabricate proof of concept devices with AJ systemsSupport user education on the AJ process, materials, and applications through journal and conference publications, training, technical notes, and online forums.Collaborate with applications and new product development teams on R&D activitiesMay involve up to 20% domestic and international travel to customer and vendor sitesRequirements:Preferred B.S. with 3-5 years' experience, M.S. or Ph.D. in physical sciences or engineeringWorking knowledge of general chemistryWorking knowledge of simple DC electronic circuits and test procedures, preferably RF measurement techniquesWorking knowledge of a software language, Python, C++, MATLAB, or LabVIEW preferredPreferred experience with Cognex machine vision softwarePreferred experience with optical microscopy and profilometryPreferred experience with CAD and additive manufacturing, e.g., SOLIDWORKS, FDM or SLAPreferred experience with simple machine shop proceduresPreferred experience with laser materials processingAble to lift 25 lbs. and access components from the floor to a five-foot level.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
