Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is building the founding Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) team for our new Dunwoody, Georgia specialty hospital .

This role is ideal for experienced Emergency Veterinary Technicians, Critical Care Veterinary Technicians, ICU Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Technicians, and Licensed Veterinary Technicians who are passionate about high-acuity medicine, advanced patient care, and continued professional growth.

Team members will begin onboarding and specialty training at our established Marietta hospital in September 2026 before transitioning to our new Dunwoody location.

Eligible ECC Professionals May Qualify for a Sign-On Bonus

We are excited to recognize experienced veterinary professionals joining our founding Emergency and Critical Care team .

Eligible candidates may qualify for:

• $6,000 Sign-On Bonus for Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT/RVT/CVT) with strong Emergency and Critical Care experience
• $1,000 Sign-On Bonus available for experienced non-licensed Veterinary Technicians or Veterinary Assistants with a strong background supporting Emergency Medicine and Critical Care cases

Sign-on bonus eligibility is based on relevant ECC experience, qualifications, and final offer approval.

What You'll Do

As an Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician , you’ll play a hands-on role in the stabilization, treatment, monitoring, and recovery of emergency and critically ill patients.

Key responsibilities include:

• Perform triage and assist with stabilization of emergency and critically ill patients
• Perform venipuncture, blood collection, IV catheter placement, and sample collection
• Perform and assist with point-of-care laboratory diagnostics
• Calculate and administer medications, fluid therapy, and continuous rate infusions (CRIs) as directed
• Monitor hospitalized and ICU patients and recognize changes in patient condition
• Manage oxygen therapy, ECG monitoring, fluid therapy, and advanced patient monitoring
• Assist with blood product administration and transfusion monitoring
• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia for emergency and specialty procedures
• Assist with emergency procedures, surgery, CPR, and patient recovery
• Support diagnostic imaging and specialty consultations
• Maintain accurate treatment sheets and medical records
• Communicate effectively with veterinarians, specialists, clients, and fellow technicians

Required Experience and Skills

Candidates should have veterinary clinical experience and demonstrate confidence in the following:

• Venipuncture and blood collection
• IV catheter placement
• Medication and treatment administration
• Fluid therapy management
• Laboratory diagnostics and sample processing
• Hospitalized patient monitoring
• Patient restraint and safe handling
• Medical record documentation
• Client communication and education
• Recognition and communication of changes in patient condition
• Ability to remain organized and effective in a fast-paced emergency environment
• Strong teamwork, communication, and critical-thinking skills

Candidates must also be able to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with reasonable accommodations when applicable, including:

• Prolonged standing and walking
• Bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting
• Safe patient restraint
• Safely lifting patients or equipment up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance when needed

Preferred Experience and Credentials

We’d especially like to meet candidates with:

• 2+ years of veterinary clinical experience
• Emergency Veterinary Technician experience
• Critical Care or ICU patient care experience
• Specialty or referral hospital experience
• Urgent Care veterinary experience
• Strong experience in a high-volume General Practice environment
• Surgery and anesthesia experience
• Advanced patient monitoring experience
• Experience calculating CRIs and medical math
• RECOVER CPR Certification
• LVT, RVT, or CVT credential
• Interest in advanced ECC training or pursuing VTS-ECC certification
