North Carolina Licensed Medical Coder

To support hospital coding operations, the full-time remote North Carolina Licensed Medical Coder will assign and review ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT codes for medical services while ensuring compliance with regulations and optimizing reimbursement processes. Key responsibilities Assigns ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes accurately and productively Reviews and applies coding edits from NCD, LCD, and CCI to ensure compliance Provides information to healthcare staff regarding coding practices and regulatory changes Required qualifications High School diploma or GED Successful completion of the UNC HCS Hospital Outpatient Coder Proficiency Test One of the following certifications: AHIMA or AAPC At least 12 months of experience in hospital coding Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding
