For 100 years, Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island has strived to empower all newcomers and those working to overcome cultural, educational, economic, and language barriers to achieve self-sufficiency through its programs and services for education, employment, refugee resettlement, family literacy, interpreting, translating, citizenship and immigration, and more.


TheCase Aide
works with clients on their various legal needs, such as filing for citizenship, adjusting immigration status, and petitioning for a relative. The primary responsibility of the Case Aide is to assist legal representatives through all aspects of immigration, including communicating directly with clients regarding their cases, preparing applications, assembling pertinent documents, and supporting staff with filing, data entry and clerical duties.


The candidate should have the following:

• Interest in citizenship and immigration in a nonprofit setting

• Fluency in spoken and written English and proficiency in a predominant foreign language spoken by Dorcas International clientele (Spanish preferred)

• Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience

• Ability to handle a high volume of cases through effective time management

• Strong interpersonal and rapport-building skills

• Ability to help clients identify problems and develop solutions

• Ability to work independently and self-manage daily tasks and time requirements

• Must be computer literate
