Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients with complex problems
• Perform patient and family education by assessing readiness to learn, developmental level, and utilizing appropriate patient education materials
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient care, revise plans of care, and communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care
• Perform bedside point-of-care testing and apply healthcare organization standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care
• Assess and anticipate discharge needs of individual patients and families, consulting appropriate resources for complex care issues in a timely manner
• Participate in unit goal development, performance improvement activities, and cost-effective care initiatives while promoting a safe, clean, and secure environment

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA or ARC) required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of progressive care unit (PCU/IMC/Stepdown) experience
• Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited school of nursing

Preferred Experience / Skills

• BSN or MSN from an accredited school of nursing
• Experience working within interdisciplinary care teams in a hospital setting
• Familiarity with public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment
