Childcare Lead Teacher

Childcare Lead Teacher Purpose Statement The job of Childcare Lead Teacher is responsible for general classroom management and supervision, which includes personal care, hygiene, and positive discipline of children, as well as planning and implementing activities for children
• This job reports to the Early Learning Specialist.
Essential Functions • Maintains a safe and healthy environment
• Meets the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child
• Plans both long- and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy
• Prepares monthly charts and lesson plans
• Plans and creates ideas for student activities using the Georgia Early Learning Standards (GELDS)
• Complete bi-annual assessment of children’s development
• Report progress of children to parents through bi-annual parent-teacher conferences
• Maintain daily open communication with parents
• Keep all appropriate records such as anecdotal notes, attendance, time sheets, and accident reports
• Maintains confidentiality
• Report any suspected abuse or neglect to supervisor
• Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy
• Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials
• Attend in-service and staff meetings • Supervise assistants and volunteers in the classroom
Other Functions • Supports other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring a healthy and effective work environment

• CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience with teaching or assistant teaching position with a public or private school system, a quality preschool, childcare center, or church nursery..
• Ability to multitask and make immediate decisions in the best interest of children in emergency situations.
• Knowledge of lesson planning and curriculum implementation.
