Job Description

The Examination Design Projects subdivision is seeking a highly motivated mechanical design engineer to join a world-class team developing precision motion and data acquisition systems for examining spent nuclear fuel. As a Mechanical Engineer in the Examination Design Projects subdivision, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of fully engineered equipment and systems, from requirements development and concept design through hardware delivery. Your specific tasks will include research and development of novel technologies, proof of principle testing, mechanical design and analysis, integration with motion control system elements, and testing. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and software engineers, test sponsors, and operations personnel at NRF to deliver cutting-edge solutions to the challenges associated with examining spent nuclear fuel and performing irradiations testing. This challenging and rewarding position offers opportunities to develop and expand technical skills through complex assignments, interpersonal skills through numerous interfaces, and leadership skills through various team assignments.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company. Pay Range
$106,200.00 - $166,000.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
