Dimensional Quality Engineer

What To Expect The Dimensional Quality Engineer role is both a practical and analytical position. They will be responsible for developing dimensional standards and practices while driving dimensional improvements across cross‑functional teams within the Fremont factory. This includes, but isn’t limited to, Gauge and Fixture design, setup, and qualifications; Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility and Correlation/Linearity Studies; Dimensional Report Creation; Control plan creation; Dimensional Stack Up Analysis; Statistical Process Control Analyses; and Design Change Recommendations/proposals. These functions will need review of manufacturing processes, current build quality, and part/assembly design to drive improvements across all Tesla models. Dimensional Quality Systems and Documents will be reviewed and developed as needed to improve detection methods and out‑going quality. A successful candidate will be able to troubleshoot various processes to identify potential root cause of quality issues to prevent future defects from occurring. The Dimensional Quality Engineer will work closely with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering Teams to provide reports, charts, graphs and anything else needed to define, measure, analyze, improve and control product and process quality from their respective shops. A successful candidate will be able to work with internal Dimensional Quality Engineering Technicians to drive projects to completion. The successful candidate must have mechanical aptitude, the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented and be able to both take direction and work independently.
