Property Records Specialist

Grand Forks County is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join our Finance & Tax team as a Property Records Specialist. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate property records and tax information for the county. If you enjoy organization, problem-solving, working with detailed information, and providing excellent customer service, this may be the opportunity for you.

Every property transaction—from buying and selling property to creating new lots and processing tax credits—depends on accurate records. As a Property Records Specialist, you will help ensure property ownership information, tax records, and legal descriptions are accurate while assisting residents, businesses, and other government agencies.

In this role, you will:

• Process deeds and other real estate documents that affect property ownership.
• Update county property records to reflect ownership changes.
• Process property splits, combinations, plats, and replats while maintaining accurate legal descriptions.
• Review and process approved property tax adjustments and abatements.
• Assist with the county's annual tax delinquency and property redemption process.
• Enter and maintain tax information, special assessments, and state-approved property tax credits, including Senior Citizen and Veteran's Credits.
• Prepare reports required by the State of North Dakota.
• Assist property owners, title companies, real estate professionals, and the public by answering questions regarding property records and tax information.
• Provide property information and tax statements at the public service counter, by phone, and through other customer inquiries.
• Assist with receipting property tax payments as needed.
• Support other Finance & Tax office functions and assist with elections when needed.

• Provides professional, courteous customer service.
• Has strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Is comfortable learning and applying state laws, regulations, and county procedures related to property records and taxation.
• Maintains confidentiality and professionalism.
• Works well independently while collaborating effectively with coworkers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in business, accounting, office administration, or a related field.
• Three years of office, administrative, accounting, records management, property records, or related experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Status and Hours

This position is full-time, regular position. Monday – Friday (based on 8 hours per day/40 hours per week), benefit eligible. There might be a variation to work hours and days to support the department and County needs. This position is not eligible for remote work.
