Completes required documentation to record assessment and progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers to provide effective therapies. 40 Work Shift Job Description Entity/Organization: MUHA (Medical University Hospital Authority/Medical Center) FLSA Status: Hours Per Week: Job Description/Summary: Evaluates, administers, and directs administration of therapeutic procedures to patients recovering from injury, disease, surgery, or other ailments, as prescribed by a referring practitioner, establishes goals of occupational therapy, and re-assesses patient’s progress at regular, timely intervals, and supporting findings with appropriate documentation. This job classification is required to care for patients of all ages. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Minimum Training and Education:Education : A degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Current South Carolina licensure and NBCOT certification required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required. Greater than 1 year of applicable experience required. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Current South Carolina licensure and NBCOT certification required. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform job functions while standing. (Continuous) Ability to perform job functions while sitting. (Continuous) Ability to perform job functions while walking. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
