Construction Safety Manager

Title: Construction Safety Manager 5 Location: Onsite / Boydton Job Description Early Works On‑Site Project Lead: Combined Role [Construction Project Manager – Project Safety Advisor]. The Cloud Infrastructure Land Development & Community (LDC) organization is responsible for delivering datacenter campus sites to a condition ready for permanent works to support the construction of Data Centers. We are looking for a passionate, high‑energy individual to help build out a regional Environmental Mitigation Project for the Boydton Metro, encompassing the combined role of Construction Project Manager – Project Safety Advisor. He or she will direct and coordinate the day‑to‑day activities in the field for onsite delivery of projects with a wide variety of unique requirements favoring civil specialties including site earthworks, stream and wetland restoration, grading and vegetation removal, and ecological enhancement. The period of performance for this task is approximately 24 months, tentatively planned to start in August 2026. Planned work week is 4 days/week and the potential for OT, as required. Roles and Responsibilities Construction details and permit requirements are confirmed. Contiguous trades are coordinated. Materials are reviewed, approved, fabricated, and delivered to the site. Overall schedule is maintained. Safe worksite practices are observed and adhered to at all times. Regular engagement with key stakeholders (Land Development, Security, Legal, Design, Construction, Operations, regulatory agencies, and outside consultants/contractors). The Project Lead will monitor the contractor’s implementation of the Site‑Specific Safety Plan. Manage significant High‑Risk Activities (HRA) both on individual sites and cumulatively across all the project works. Ensure appointed contractors at sites are responsible for site EHS management and meet statutory and highest standards of EHS management. Monitor the implementation of high standards of EHS management across the construction site. Specific Responsibilities On‑site Construction Management of Early Works delivery for sites. Accountability for developing, managing, and reporting on safety, scope, schedule, and budget. Advocate for safe worksites by adhering to organizational and industry procedures. Review prior audit results and relevant legislation to recommend and manage safety compliance. Share lessons learned with relevant stakeholders. Provide regular internal reporting of project status and costs to meet KPI and budget requirements. Serve as project single point of contact for Early Works construction and communicate delivery status and progress. Coordinate meetings and activities of vendors, cost managers, and integration of lessons learned. Support regulatory agencies, stakeholder and community engagement activities and negotiations for new builds and existing facilities. Key Project Objectives Ensure compliance with national statutory EHS requirements for each construction project. Where practicable implement best practice across each project. Enhance and improve existing construction safety management procedures through a visible on‑site presence and active participation in all aspects of day‑to‑day EHS management on the projects. Monitor the contractor’s implementation of Global Construction Safety Policy and High‑Risk Activities. Assist on an as‑needed basis in the development of specific safety programs. Provide independent review and monitoring of construction Health & Safety management procedures, cross‑evaluating projects to share lessons learned and drive continuous improvement across the construction supply chain. Assist in the identification and management of High‑Risk Activities at each stage of the projects. Daily activity briefings, management reviews, site safety committee meetings, planning and coordination review meetings. Conduct Independent EHS and HRA Audits Monitoring compliance between Health & Safety planning and actual work on site. Assessing compliance with agreed KPIs across all project stages. Communications of Health & Safety at all levels. Coordination of work activities on the sites. Identification, assessment, and evaluation of high‑risk activities. Training and education. Review of safe plans of action, lifting plans, and other planning activities as appropriate. Competency of contractors and operatives. Assessment of accidents, incidents, & near misses, including the evaluation of findings and monitoring the implementation of corrective and preventive measures. Ongoing assessment of resources provided by contractors to enable implementation of the contractor’s safety management program. Encouraging and promoting EHS initiatives to influence positive safety behavior and culture on the site. Encouraging and promoting contractor participation in structured EHS recognition and wellness programs. Reporting and supporting the project management team regarding EHS. It is emphasized that the proposed role of the client adviser is intended as collaborative and supporting that of the main contractor. The contractor will maintain responsibility for all aspects of safety management on site. Skills and Qualifications To be successful, you must have a strong background in project and construction management, be able to work in a dynamic and global organization and have a strong desire to continually learn and innovate. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of related experience (or equivalent). Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain cross‑functional and positive working relationships with internal and external teams. OHSA 30 certification. Candidates Must Have 5+ years of progressive responsibility in the development and delivery of complex capital projects and programs. 5+ years of construction and Environmental Compliance experience in America, including cross‑coordination amongst disciplines.
