Deposit Specialist

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The incumbent is responsible for assisting customers in day to day transactions, maintaining cash drawer, opening or closing the bank as necessary and answering telephone in a courteous manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide excellent customer service at all times. Utilize critical thinking and active listening to resolve customer problems or complaints. This duty is performed daily.
2. Greet customers as they enter the bank and direct to the appropriate employee when necessary.
3. Answer telephone in a courteous manner.
4. Handle deposits, withdrawals, transfers, cashed checks, loan payments, money orders, credit card advances, and other transactional needs.
5. Balance and maintain cash drawer.
6. Buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that cash drawer limits are not exceeded.
7. Assist with end of day vault balancing and ATM balancing.
8. Examine checks presented and determine proper funds availability based on regulatory requirements.
9. Examine checks for endorsements and to verify other information such as dates, bank names, identification of the persons receiving payments and the legitimacy of the documents.
10. Scan, correct, and balance all paper transaction items through the Bank's source capture optimization program and submit for processing through the federal banking system.
11. Maintain customers' savings passbooks and Christmas club passbooks when requested.
12. Promote and maintain positive relations with all employees, current customers, and potential customers.
13. Contribute to the fulfillment of department and company objectives and goals.
14. Follow all bank policies and procedures, with regulatory knowledge of deposit-related compliance topics.
15. Assist with office functions as needed.
16. Perform opening and closing procedures as assigned.
17. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
