Viterbo University is seeking applicants for an Assistant Softball Coach that will help assist the head coach in managing all operations of the program including but not limited to recruiting, coaching, scheduling and fundraising. The assistant coach will provide guidance to student-athletes and maintain positive interactions with student-athletes and other department coaches and staff, university colleagues and benefactors.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist with the coordination of the pitching staff, practices, and workoutsAssist with planning, execution, and management of practice and gamesHelp with opponent scouts and film breakdownAssist with on and off-campus recruiting and fundraising eventsHelp with various administrative tasks and responsibilitiesHelp support the overall holistic development of student athletesSupport and adhere to all institutional policies outlined in the employee handbookWork with a diverse constituency including, but not limited to, students, parents, coaches, faculty, staff administrators, prospective students, and other outside contactsFollow all NAIA and Viterbo University rules and regulationsSupport and embrace the five core values of the NAIA's "Champions of Character" initiativeFulfill other responsibilities as delegated or assigned by the head softball coachQualifications: Experience playing fastpitch softball (college level preferred)Pitching knowledge and experience preferredDemonstrated knowledge of the sport and ability to teach fundamentals and skill developmentAbility to work nights and weekendsOrganized and dependableHave reliable transportationMust be attentive to detail and be able to keep accurate recordsHelp foster and build a culture consistent with the views of the head coachBackground in education or coaching desiredThis is a seasonal part-time position. Hours and days worked will vary depending on the time of the year (most intensive workload during the spring season). Attendance at all games and practices is expected.
