RN - CVICU

Cardio Thoracic ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

A Cardio Thoracic ICU Registered Nurse is needed for a 13-week assignment, with the possibility of extension. The role involves caring for both Cardio Thoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) patients and step-down patients due to the use of a universal bed model.

Schedule

• 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
• Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required
• 48-hour contracts are available, with overtime billed after 48 hours—please indicate candidate preference at the time of submission
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays

Patient Ratios

Typical patient ratio is 1:1-2.

Minimum Requirements

• 2 years of experience in CVICU/CTICU; travel experience preferred
• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at the time of submission; no exceptions
• Proficiency in Epic; no exceptions

• Central line care/management
• PICC line management
• Starting IVs
• Continuous IV sedation
• Procedural sedation administration
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Strong neuro experience required (post-brain surgery, EVD experience/ventriculostomy)
• FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Multi-system organ failure management
• CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft) experience
• Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump and Impella management
• Post cardiac surgery care
• Pre/Post cardiac catheterization/intervention
• Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• IV insulin protocols
• CVVHD/CRRT experience
• CVA/Acute Stroke management
• Assisting with BiPAP and CPAP management
• Care of ventilated patients
• High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) utilization
• ABG interpretation
• Suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Ventilator management
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE usage
• Management of surgical wounds with drains/Wound Vac

Required Certifications

• BLS (American Heart Association only)
• ACLS (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Compliance Requirements

• Candidates with any license or background issues will not be considered
• Local RN candidates living within 50 miles of the assignment location are not eligible for this position
