Schedule:

Candidates may be assigned to any of the following shifts:

• Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• Evening Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Night Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Weekend and New York State holiday work may be required.

No overtime or travel is anticipated.

Position Overview

Coxsackie Correctional Facility is seeking seven experienced Registered Nurses to support the medical unit within the correctional facility. The selected candidates will provide comprehensive nursing care to incarcerated individuals, including health assessments, medication administration, treatment, patient education, and coordination of care. Nurses will work collaboratively with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to address the medical needs of the patient population.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive health assessments and evaluate patients for new symptoms, undiagnosed conditions, complications, and changes in health status.
• Diagnose and treat patient health problems within the scope of Registered Nurse practice.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Execute medical regimens prescribed by physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, podiatrists, and other authorized healthcare providers.
• Provide restorative, supportive, palliative, and end-of-life care to ill, disabled, and dying patients.
• Monitor patient conditions and document assessments, treatments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Educate and counsel patients regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, and prevention of complications.
• Collaborate as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team to plan and implement appropriate patient care.
• Participate in healthcare planning and provide nursing expertise and consultation on health-related matters as required.
• Maintain professional nursing standards while working within a secure correctional healthcare environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Active and unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse license
• Minimum of one (1) year of post-licensure nursing experience
• Ability to work effectively in a correctional healthcare environment and provide care to incarcerated individuals.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, documentation, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
