Food Service Manager
Under general direction of the Director, Food and Nutrition Services or designee, assists in planning, organizing, directing and reviewing a comprehensive food service program on a District-wide basis; contributes to the development of a nutritional program to meet National School Lunch requirements; ensures program compliance with Federal, State, County and District requirements; counsels, trains and evaluates performance of subordinates. The incumbent must possess good interpersonal skills and work with the Administrator, Supervisors and Coordinators regarding personnel activities and the implementation of processes related to the operation of the department.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education: Must possess a secondary (i.e., high school) school diploma, or its equivalent (GED), supplemented by the completion of two (2) years of college including courses in Food Services, Management, institutional Food Services and other related fields. Experience in the preparation of menus, supervising employees engaged in quantity food preparation, etc., in addition to that listed below, may be substituted for the required college level education on the basis of one (1) year of experience being equal to 15 semester units. Experience: Three (3) years full-time experience in supervising employees engaged in quantity food preparation, cooking and serving, including responsibility for coordination of several food service facilities, scheduling of employees, budget preparation and administration, and other management skills, is required. SPECIAL LICENSE OR LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess a valid Food Safety Certification from a nationally recognized Food Safety Program. Certification must successfully be renewed every three years. The ability to read, write and speak another language, in addition to English, such as Spanish or Armenian, is desirable.
