Position Summary Leadville Visitor Center Ambassador is the face of the Leadville Visitor Center. The Ambassador works closely with all guests—both locals and travelers—to provide up-to-date information about Lake County and surrounding areas. Ambassadors create a warm and welcoming environment for all visitors and represent Lake County Government, the Lake County Tourism Panel, and the City of Leadville. Responsibilities Open and close the Visitor Center, including cleaning indoor and outdoor spaces and public use bathrooms. Greet guests upon arrival, record information about their origin and plans, and provide key information about Lake County offerings and expectations. Record key visitor information on the daily log using an Xcel spreadsheet. Maintain a respectful and welcoming tone toward all guests, regardless of culture, background, or beliefs. Stay familiar with all Visitor Center brochures, handouts, and Tourism Panel resources; keep up to date with local business hours, activities, and county amenities. Restock brochures as needed and notify the manager of low stock. Respond to voicemails, emails and process brochure mailer requests. Work independently and collaboratively with co‑workers, supervisors, guests, and community partners. Use a tablet and Square point‑of‑sale system for cash, credit, and check transactions. Balance cash registers at the start and end of the day and record daily sales on the deposit slip. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Demonstrated experience in the customer service industry, including hotel, hospitality, cultural nonprofits, public events, outdoor recreation, or historic preservation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional people skills and ability to multi‑task. Completion of online training through the Colorado Tourism Learning Labs is required. Physical Activity & Work Environment Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Prolonged periods of standing or walking. Use of hands for repetitive motions such as typing, writing, or operating equipment. Operation of standard office equipment (computers, phones, copiers, etc.). Visual acuity to read and produce accurate documents and materials. Hearing ability sufficient to respond to spoken communication. Standard office environment with controlled temperature and lighting. Work performed in a loud, noisy, or distracting environment. Interaction with the public, sometimes in high‑pressure or emotionally charged situations. Work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven, or high‑volume environment. May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or be on‑call.
