Oncologist

Jackson & Coker is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Oncologist for a locum tenens opportunity in California, starting August 3rd and continuing ongoing. This role involves providing general oncology care in an outpatient clinic setting, with a focus on managing a diverse patient panel. The position offers a consistent schedule and the chance to work with a supportive team while a permanent physician is being recruited.

Practice Info

• Setting: Outpatient clinic
• Types of cases: General Oncology, with Breast composing 30% of the oncology volume, followed by Prostate at 15%, with OB/GYN, lung, and colorectal each comprising approximately 10–13%
• Patients per day: 2 oncology consults, 1 hematology consult, 12–16 follow-ups
• Admissions per day: 0–1
• No induction therapies, bi-specifics, or BMT/Car-T performed
• Support staff includes scheduler, clinical supervisor, medical assistant, nurse navigation, social work, triage RN, and infusion RNs
• EMR: OncoEMR (outpatient), Cerner (inpatient charting, lab results, DI results)

Responsibilities

• Order and interpret diagnostic testing including blood work, biopsies, and imaging
• Analyze biopsy results and collaborate with pathology
• Order chemotherapy and immunotherapies using NCCN, UpToDate, and Micromedex

• Tuesday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM
• Target 16 days per month
• No weekends required

Requirements

• Board Certified Oncology - highly preferred
• Board Eligible accepted if newly out of residency
• Active California state license
• Fellowship in Hematology or Oncology
• BLS
• DEA
• Medicare Eligible Provider
