Location: Thomasville, NC
Salary: $70,000 to $75,000

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing, family-owned furniture manufacturer to hire a Product Design Engineer . This is a hands-on opportunity for a mechanically minded engineer who enjoys taking products from an initial concept through design, prototyping, testing, and production.

This role offers the chance to make a visible impact within a small, fast-moving organization. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an environment where priorities can shift quickly and will enjoy collaborating directly with leadership, manufacturing partners, and prototype teams.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop furniture products from initial concept through manufacturing.
• Create detailed models, drawings, and technical documentation using SolidWorks and AutoCAD .
• Design components including wood frames, foam, connectors, and other structural elements.
• Apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles to create functional, manufacturable products.
• Partner with management and cross-functional teams to turn design concepts into finished products.
• Provide hands-on support during prototype construction, testing, troubleshooting, and refinement.
• Collaborate with pattern makers and other technical partners to ensure proper fit, function, and product integration.
• Manage multiple product development priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What We're Looking For

• Product development or mechanical design experience, preferably within furniture manufacturing.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD .
• Strong mechanical aptitude and an understanding of how products are assembled and manufactured.
• Ability and willingness to assist with hands-on prototype development.
• Experience creating accurate CAD drawings and documenting the product development process.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage changing priorities and multiple projects.
• Experience with motion seating, recliners, or sleeper products is highly desirable.
• A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent practical experience will be considered.
