Vice President of Animal Care

The client is seeking a visionary Vice President of Animal Care to champion the highest standards of marine life well-being, scientific excellence, collaboration, and conservation impact. This role provides strategic leadership for the Animal Care Division, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and teamwork, and works closely with partners across education and guest experience, conservation and science, and exhibitions to advance the organization’s mission to inspire ocean conservation. The Vice President will shape and oversee animal care programs so they reflect organizational values, uphold the highest well-being standards, and inspire both staff and guests. Responsibilities include strategic divisional management through planning, divisional goal-setting, and administration of a divisional budget, along with supervision of key department leaders and the cultivation of professional development across dive programs, veterinary services, and husbandry operations. The role also leads living exhibit and aquarium innovation by collaborating with exhibitions to deliver dynamic, scientifically accurate, high-aesthetic living exhibits that align with conservation goals. The Vice President will maintain rigorous accreditation and regulatory compliance practices, support scientific and organizational integrity, and partner cross-functionally to ensure programs are aligned with the organization’s long-term strategic plan and the mission to protect the future of the ocean.
