Job Type: Full Time Badge/Code: #ALDIND Position: Respiratory Therapist Location: Yale Campus Unit: Adult Unit Shift: Night Shift Sign-On/Relocation: Eligible for up to a $25,000 Sign-On Bonus and $5,000 Relocation Bonus Responsibilities Assess, deliver, and evaluate respiratory care services in accordance with hospital standards and department policies. Perform computer entry, verify physician orders, and document pertinent clinical information in the medical record. Provide mechanical ventilation (invasive/non-invasive) and monitor patient parameters; attend to ventilator maintenance and setting changes. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and demonstrate professional judgment in changing patient or departmental situations. Delegate and supervise tasks to appropriate staff members as indicated. Respect patients\' rights and establish effective relationships with patients, families, and staff. Support departmental/hospital goals by attending in-services, meeting department education standards, and completing variance reports. Organize, prioritize, and perform skills appropriate for the patient population; anticipate patient/department needs. Respond to code blues, RIT/CRIT calls, and transports in a timely manner. Participate in mentoring of new personnel and in projects to improve patient outcomes. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Valid Oklahoma Provisional / Respiratory Care Practitioner License (RCP) or temporary letter to practice issued by the Oklahoma Medical Board. Certified / Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) credential through the NBRC. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 months of hire. Work Experience: 0 - 6 months related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform medication administration via nebulizer or MDI, humidity and aerosol therapy, medical gas administration, incentive spirometry, Respiratory Mechanics, PEP therapy, pulse oximetry, Chest Physiotherapy, CPR, Mechanical Ventilation, Intubation, Extubation, Suctioning and Bronchoscopy Assist. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to be detail-oriented when examining clinical and numerical data. Basic PC skills for entering data and documentation. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Assess and deliver care/interventions to patients in non-critical care areas within policy, considering age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Perform computer entry, verify physician orders, and document pertinent clinical information; provide accurate documentation in the medical record. Provide care in critical care areas; deliver mechanical ventilation (invasive/non-invasive) and monitor patient response. Monitor ventilator settings and perform maintenance; adjust as needed based on patient response. Communicate with the healthcare team; exercise professional judgment in response to changing patient or departmental situations. Delegate and supervise tasks to appropriate staff when indicated; maintain patient rights and dignity. Build effective relationships with patients, families, and medical staff using positive customer service skills. Maintain regular communication updates with the department; support goals by attending in-services and meeting education standards. Organize and prioritize skills for the patient population; anticipate needs. Respond to code blues, RIT/CRIT calls, and transports promptly. Mentor new personnel and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Relationships Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise).
