BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a Surgery Veterinary Technician to split their time between our Cary & Raleigh Hospitals! Pay: $20.00 - $40.50 / hour This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience, licensure and advancement through our leveling system. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience. Are you a passionate technician looking to improve your skills in the veterinary field? As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
• Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and CRI's. Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors. Comfortable with medical math. Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)
• Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc. Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically. Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
