Job Title: Entry Level Utility Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Skilled Laborer with a minimum of 6 months experience in the Utility Field. This role requires a valid driver's license and the ability to perform inspections and documentation under various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodic inspections and surveys on utility poles for corrosion and/or damage at ground level.
• Complete all necessary documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Support the successful completion of regulatory audits and inspections.
• Perform audit reviews with operations and provide support during audits.

Essential Skills

• Valid driver's license and own vehicle for transportation to multiple sites.
• Professional communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate job details.
• Experience in the utility industry and construction.
• Ability to walk during an 8-hour workday in various weather conditions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 1+ year of driving experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills.
• Capability to work independently and in a team setting.
• Experience interfacing with technical services, government agencies, emergency responders, landowners, and contractors.

Work Environment

This is a 100% field-based position requiring flexibility to travel within the utility territory. Operate Monday through Friday, 8 am - 4 pm, with potential shifts on Saturdays at the supervisor's request. Training includes OSHA orientation and a company handbook, with strict adherence to classroom schedules and completion of homework/practice exams. Equipment provided includes a simple tool set, field binder, ID badges, tools/tool belt, handheld tablet, safety vest, and hard hat.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cortland, NY.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Cortland,NY.
