Senior Consultant - Data & AI (Private Markets)

Boston, New York, United States, Chicago asset-management, Management Consulting, Alternatives Hybrid The Role We’re hiring a Senior Consultant to join a fast-growing Data & AI practice focused on private markets and alternative investments . This role sits within data strategy and operating model design , working across front-, middle-, and back-office workflows. You’ll help private equity, credit, real estate, and alternative investment firms design scalable, governed data capabilities that improve decision-making across the investment lifecycle. This is a business-led data role — focused on clarity, structure, and execution — not pure engineering. What You’ll Be Working On Building deep understanding of private markets workflows , including: Deal execution Portfolio monitoring Valuations Investor relations Operations and finance Owning and delivering client-ready data strategy outputs , including: Domain definitions Business requirements Governance frameworks Workflow and operating model documentation Defining core data domains such as: Client, Fund, Investment, Deal Portfolio Company, Exposure, Performance Cashflows, Valuations, IR and operational data Leading stakeholder interviews and working sessions Translating business needs into clear data implications and requirements Defining data ownership, stewardship, and standards Partnering with technology and data teams to ensure business-led, scalable delivery Coaching and supporting Analysts and Consultants to raise delivery quality Contributing to the evolution of private markets data and AI capabilities What We’re Looking For 4–6+ years’ experience in: Consulting, or Private markets / asset management roles, or Data strategy or business analysis functions Strong understanding of private markets workflows and decision points Experience translating business problems into structured, high-quality deliverables Solid grounding in data strategy fundamentals (definitions, quality, ownership, governance) Confident stakeholder facilitator and interviewer Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to produce executive-ready narratives and materials Awareness of modern cloud-native data platforms (ingestion, processing, governance, analytics) Comfortable working alongside technical teams without being hands-on engineering If you don’t meet every requirement but bring strong private markets or data strategy experience, we still encourage you to apply.
