Position Overview:

This role involves assessing and implementing medically prescribed physical therapy programs aimed at addressing movement disorders and alleviating pain caused by injuries, illnesses, disabilities, or other health-related issues.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Conducts initial and ongoing evaluations of patients' conditions.
• Develops, updates, and assesses a care plan tailored to the identified issues, involving the patient and their family.
• Administers therapeutic interventions using standard physical therapy techniques suitable for the patient's condition.
• Educates patients, families, and staff by identifying educational needs.
• Ensures continuity of care by engaging in discharge planning with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals, providing home care instructions, recommending necessary equipment or modifications, and suggesting follow-up care as needed.
• Supervises the activities of physical therapy assistants, students, and other support staff.
• Keeps accurate records detailing the patient's response to therapy and the necessity for skilled intervention as mandated by regulatory standards.
• Maintains a vigilant and safe working environment.
• Performs additional tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy or a related field necessary for state licensure.

EXPERIENCE

• No prior experience is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Constantly standing.
• Regularly lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling items weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Frequently using hearing and speech for verbal communication.
• Regularly using hearing to detect body sounds and alarms.
• Consistently using vision for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
• Regular walking, reaching, gripping, and data entry.
• Occasionally bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting, and performing repetitive movements with legs and arms.
• Occasionally lifting and moving objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
• Occasionally assisting in lifting/moving patients.
• Occasionally using vision to assess distances and spatial relationships, as well as to identify colors.
• Occasionally driving.
• Rarely crawling.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Resuscitation Certification: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification is required within 90 days of employment. Additional resuscitation certifications may be necessary based on departmental needs.

State Licensure Requirements:

• Illinois: Licensed Physical Therapist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Missouri: Licensed Physical Therapist - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
• Oklahoma: Licensed Physical Therapist - Oklahoma Medical Board
• Wisconsin: Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
