Claims Manager

Description : Risk and Claims Management - adding to growing staff! Boutique RM Broker and Safety Consultant seeking an experienced claims professional to handle active claims for clients. Manage and monitor TPA activity and claims handling through settlement and closure. Serve as the client-facing GL claims advocate, managing the relationship between the employer, insurance carrier, and defense counsel on open claims. Review and oversee carrier adjuster handling of GL claims, including investigation quality, reserve accuracy, litigation strategy, and settlement authority. Analyze general liability claims to assess coverage, liability, and damages exposure. Coordinate vendor referrals for investigation, surveillance, expert retention, and litigation management. Track and report on reserve adequacy, claim trends, and loss development for client GL portfolios. Prepare client-facing claim summaries and strategic recommendations on individual files. Identify subrogation and recovery opportunities, including contribution claims and contractual indemnification enforcement. Collaborate with workers' compensation team on overlapping exposures. Help develop standard operating procedures for GL claims management Requirements : 1-3 years of general liability or bodily injury claims handling experience (carrier, TPA, brokerage, or self-insured employer side). Solid understanding of liability analysis, damages evaluation, and reserve setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills -- you will draft claim summaries, client reports, and adjuster correspondence regularly. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a small-firm environment. Comfort with direct client interaction from day one. Experience with construction-related GL claims (premises liability, construction defect, Labor Law). Familiarity with New York Labor Law 200/240/241(6) (Scaffold Law). Exposure to OCIP/CCIP wrap-up programs, additional insured disputes, or subcontractor default scenarios. Multi-state claims experience (NY, NJ, PA, FL, NV). Bachelor's degree or professional designations (AIC, CPCU, ARM).
