Railcar Final Assembly Technician I

$17 - $20.91 per hour

Siemens Mobility

Job Description

Job Description

Be the hands that build America’s next-generation trains

For more than 160 years, Siemens Mobility has helped move people and goods across the United States with safer, smarter rail solutions. At our advanced manufacturing campus in Lexington, NC, the Rolling Stock Division leads the continent in passenger coaches, locomotives, and light rail vehicles. Now we’re growing—and we’d like you to grow with us.

Role snapshot

As a Railcar Final Assembly Technician I, you’ll join a high-energy production team bringing world-class passenger rail vehicles to life. You’ll work across mechanical and electromechanical assemblies, ensuring precision, safety, and reliability in every coach we deliver.

A day in your build bay

You’ll start your shift with a plan: reading drawings, staging parts, and coordinating with teammates. Through the day you will:

  • Assemble major coach units such as roofs, cable harnesses, mounted parts, electrical racks, and panels—including air supply racks and piping assemblies.
  • Apply adhesives and precisely fit and align floor panels, windows, and door assemblies.
  • Install mechanical components: insulation, sidewall panels, seating, and luggage racks.
  • Route and terminate electrical wiring harnesses to subassemblies and final connection points.
  • Disassemble, modify, rework, refurbish, and reassemble components as production needs evolve.
  • Use production blueprints, wiring diagrams, parts and wire lists, sketches, and verbal instructions to produce electrical or electro-mechanical subassemblies.
  • Rely on fine motor skills and steady hands to assemble small components with excellent dexterity.
What you bring
  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED, or an equivalent mix of education and experience in manufacturing or related fields (e.g., electrical panel assembly, construction, automotive, or electrical service).
  • Basic written and spoken English for safe, clear communication.
  • Comfort reading blueprints/diagrams and navigating parts lists is a plus.
Physical realities of the work
  • Frequent walking; reaching; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Regular climbing of stairs, steps, and ladders.
  • Work performed on elevated platforms and overhead.
  • Occasional lifting and moving of up to 40 pounds.
  • Vision needs include close and distance sight, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Schedule

Shift: Monday – Thursday, 5:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
