Join Gilead and help create possible, together.Job DescriptionAt Gilead our pursuit of a healthier world for all people has yielded a cure for hepatitis C, revolutionary improvements in HIV treatment and prevention as well as advancements in therapies for viral and inflammatory diseases and certain cancers.We set and achieve bold ambitions in our fight against the world’s most devastating diseases, united in our commitment to confronting the largest public health challenges of our day and improving the lives of patients for generations to come.As the Executive Director, Procurement Center of Excellence, at Gilead you will lead the design, scaling, and governance of enterprise-wide procurement capabilities that enable value creation, operational excellence, and sustainable outcomes across a global organization.This is a highly visible leadership role based at our global headquarters in Foster City, CA local candidates are encouraged to apply.What you will do1) Enterprise Procurement Strategy & GovernanceDefine and lead the global Procurement COE strategy aligned to enterprise transformation prioritiesEstablish and govern policies, standards, and frameworks across the Source-to-Settle lifecycleDrive consistency, compliance, and best-in-class practices across regions, categories, and functions2) Digital Procurement & Technology EnablementOwn the business strategy for the end-to-end procurement technology ecosystemPartner with IT, Finance, and Legal to implement and evolve source-to-pay, contracting, supplier management, and analytics platformsDrive innovation through automation, AI-enabled sourcing, and digital transformation initiatives3) Data, Analytics & Business InsightsLead a centralized procurement analytics capability delivering insights on spend, savings, risk, and supplier performanceDefine enterprise data models, KPIs, and reporting standards aligned with financial and strategic outcomesEnable self-service analytics and advanced insights for procurement and business leadership4) Supplier Strategy & ESG IntegrationDrive procurement-led ESG strategies including supplier sustainability, inclusion, and regulatory complianceEmbed ESG requirements into sourcing, contracting, and supplier performance processesEnsure transparency, data integrity, and reporting for ESG commitments5) Capability Building & Organizational LeadershipBuild and scale a global procurement capability framework across functional, digital, and leadership domainsLead leadership development, onboarding, and continuous learning programsFoster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvementDevelop and mentor senior procurement leaders while influencing across a highly matrixed environmentWhat success looks like (first 6–12 months)Clear, aligned global procurement COE strategy and governance model in placeMeasurable improvements in procurement consistency, analytics, and decision-makingProgress on digital procurement roadmap including automation and AI initiativesEnhanced supplier programs with embedded ESG standardsStrengthened leadership bench and capability development across the organizationBasic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree and 16+ years of relevant professional experienceORMaster’s Degree and 14+ years of relevant professional experienceORPhD and 14+ years of relevant professional experiencePreferred Qualifications16+ years of experience leading global procurement teams and senior leadersProven experience driving large-scale procurement transformation initiativesDeep expertise in source-to-pay processes, procurement systems, and digital enablementStrong track record of influencing senior stakeholders across Finance, IT, Legal, and business leadershipExperience implementing advanced analytics, automation, or AI in procurement environmentsDemonstrated success operating in complex, global, matrixed organizationsExperience embedding ESG principles into supplier and procurement strategiesStrong executive presence with the ability to influence without authorityPeople Leader Accountabilities•Create Inclusion - knowing the business value of diverse teams, modeling inclusion, and embedding the value of diversity in the way they manage their teams.•Develop Talent - understand the skills, experience, aspirations, and potential of their employees and coach them on current performance and future potential. They provide the support needed to remove barriers and connect their team to the broader ecosystem.The salary range for this position is: $281,010.00 - $363,660.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
