Role Description The Pharmacy Technician Student role at Corewell Health is a full-time, on-site position based in Southfield, MI. In this role, the individual supports licensed pharmacists with day-to-day pharmacy operations, including assisting in preparing and labeling medications, processing prescription orders, and maintaining accurate patient and medication records in accordance with regulatory standards. The Pharmacy Technician Student helps manage inventory by restocking supplies, checking expiration dates, and ensuring proper storage conditions. Daily responsibilities also include interacting with patients, caregivers, and clinical staff, answering basic inquiries, and directing more complex questions to pharmacists to support safe, efficient, and compassionate care. The role offers hands‑on learning in a professional pharmacy environment and opportunities to develop practical skills under the guidance of experienced pharmacy professionals. Qualifications Candidates should possess foundational knowledge of prescriptions and medication handling, including understanding prescription terminology and basic safety practices. Candidates should possess skills related to pharmacy operations, such as familiarity with pharmacy workflows and an interest in learning applicable regulations and guidelines. Candidates should possess capabilities aligned with pharmacy technician functions, including supporting pharmacists in dispensing processes and performing routine technical tasks under supervision. Candidates should possess inventory control skills, including attention to detail when tracking stock levels, rotating inventory, and monitoring medication storage conditions. Candidates should possess strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, show respect and empathy, and collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Enrollment in or completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program or related coursework is preferred; meeting state-specific requirements for pharmacy technician trainees is required. Strong organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately are essential. Basic computer skills and comfort working with electronic health records or pharmacy systems are beneficial.
