Operating Room - OR RN - Travel Nurse TNAA TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Los Angeles, California. Job Details: Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Hours: 40 hours per week (10‑hour shifts) Employment type: Travel We are looking for operating room RNs with 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience as circulating or scrub nurses, and potentially RN first assistant. Role Summary: An OR travel nurse assists physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education. Key Responsibilities: Provide basic bedside care. Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting adverse reactions. Serve as communication liaison between patients’ families and the operating team. Ensure correct procedure is performed on the correct patient. Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach medication and home‑care management. For Circulating OR Nurses: respond to comfort and safety needs, handle specimens accurately, monitor equipment, inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure. For Scrub OR Nurses: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies, inventory items pre‑ and post‑procedure. For RN First Assistants: assist physicians in delivering direct surgical care, control bleeding, suture patients following surgery. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, and stoop. Can lift up to 20 pounds; may lift up to 50 pounds when moving or lifting patients. Must be comfortable working in environments with potential exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases.
