We're looking to expand our team across the board.York is seeking an early career Embedded Flight Software Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and testing of mission-critical spacecraft software systems. This role focuses on embedded and Linux-based flight software that enables command, telemetry, networking, and autonomy functions across on-orbit vehicles.The ideal candidate is a motivated engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving, learning complex systems, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams throughout development, integration, and test activities.York operates in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where engineers are trusted with meaningful responsibility early. High performers are given opportunities to grow quickly, influence technical direction, and contribute directly to on-orbit mission success.Not all skills below are required — we encourage you to apply if you are excited about learning and growing in the role.Responsibilities:Support development of embedded flight software in C/C++ for spacecraft systemsAssist with software integration and testing in HITL, flat-sat, and lab environmentsHelp develop and maintain networking and communication interfaces between spacecraft subsystems and ground systemsParticipate in unit, integration, and system-level testing activitiesSupport debugging of hardware/software integration issuesAssist with on-orbit operations support and anomaly investigationsContribute to software documentation, interface definitions, and test proceduresWork with CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and release processesCollaborate with software, hardware, platform, and mission operations teamsFast-paced environment with significant opportunities for career and technical growth based on performance and initiativeRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field0–5 years of experience in software or embedded systems developmentFamiliarity with C/C++ programmingExposure to Linux development environmentsUnderstand code and source repository managementBasic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, UDP, sockets, etc.)Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environmentMust be clearance eligible and able to maintain an active Secret Clearance or higherWillingness to work full-time in our Greenwood Village, CO officeLove space!Preferred for the Role:Master's Degree in computer science or engineering related fieldInternship, academic, or personal project experience with embedded systemsFamiliarity with embedded Linux or Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)Experience with hardware/software integration or robotics projectsExposure to Git, CI/CD pipelines, or automated testingFamiliarity with Python or scripting languagesInterest in spacecraft, aerospace, or safety-critical systemsExperience working in lab or system integration environmentsActive Secret ClearanceIn compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required.
