Patient Care Technician (PCT)Join our healthcare team as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) and play an important role in delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care. In this role, you will work closely with Registered Nurses and clinical staff to support patients and help maintain a safe, supportive care environment. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the Patient Care Technician assists licensed nursing personnel in providing direct patient care in accordance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory guidelines. This position is ideal for individuals pursuing a career in nursing, healthcare, or clinical patient care.Key ResponsibilitiesDirect Patient CareAccept patient care assignments from the Charge RN or designeeImmediately report changes in patient condition to the primary RNObtain, document, and report vital signs, rechecking as neededMeasure and document patient intake and outputPerform capillary blood glucose testing and report abnormal resultsPerform ECGs as directedApply monitoring equipment including NIBP, ECG electrodes, pulse oximetry, and end-tidal CO? monitoringPatient Support & Unit AssistanceAssist with patient transport and transfers throughout the hospitalRespond to patient call lights and family requests in a timely mannerSupport activities of daily living (ADLs) under nursing supervisionHelp maintain a safe, clean, and supportive patient care environmentPerform unit-related tasks assigned by the Nurse Manager or designeePatient Safety & ObservationProvide continuous observation of assigned patients to ensure safetyVerbally redirect patients engaging in at-risk behaviorsMaintain patient privacy, dignity, and rightsVirtual Safety Attendant / Telesitter ProgramWhen assigned, the Patient Care Technician may function as a Virtual Safety Attendant supporting the hospital's Telesitter patient monitoring program.Continuous visual observation of patients using AvaSure® monitoring technologyUsing two-way audio communication to redirect patients when necessaryPromptly notifying clinical staff if patient assistance is requiredMonitoring the environment and reporting potential safety hazardsCollaborating with bedside nursing staff during shift handoffsSetting up and maintaining telesitter monitoring equipmentEducating patients and families about the telesitter safety programProfessional DevelopmentParticipate in unit projects and patient care improvement initiativesAttend in-service trainings and educational programsMinimum QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or GED preferredMust be currently enrolled in a professional or practical nursing programExperienceAcute care or hospital experience preferredLicensure & CertificationBLS Certification - Healthcare Provider requiredCertified Nursing Assistant (CNA) strongly preferredSkills & CompetenciesAbility to accurately take and document vital signsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent customer service and patient care skillsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environmentStrong computer and documentation skillsAbility to maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in EnglishWhy Join Our TeamWorking as a Patient Care Technician provides valuable hands-on experience while making a meaningful difference in patient care.
