Location: New Canton, VA | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm | Compensation: Not specified Overview A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract assignment with potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to accurate specimen collection and smooth laboratory workflow, supporting patient care through precise and courteous blood draw procedures. What you'll do Perform blood draws, including heel sticks, using straight and/or butterfly needles Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Collect and store specimens according to established procedures and required temperatures Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) clearly and courteously to patients Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all test requisitions against scripts for 100% accuracy Package and prepare specimens for transport, maintaining specimen integrity per protocol Update patient information and record maintenance and decontamination data Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Assist with troubleshooting, training, and workflow improvement recommendations Required qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience Must be able to perform heel sticks Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This is a 3 months contract opportunity in New Canton, VA with potential for permanent placement, offering a consistent Monday-Friday daytime schedule. #J-18808-Ljbffr Software Placement Group
