Instructional Assistant

Full-Time Instructional Assistant Central York School District (CYSD) is looking for a Full-Time Instructional Assistant to join Stony Brook Elementary School instructional team for the 2026/2027 school year. Location Stony Brook Elementary School 250 Silver Spur Drive York, PA 17402 Hours 6.25 hours per day 186 days per year Job Summary Provide instructional support to any and all students, and/or a specific student or group of students as assigned. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Serve as a personal assistant to a special needs student, providing assistance in learning activities, special projects, personal care activities, logging daily activities, and following up with the instructional support team and parents. Provide and facilitate learning support activities for all or an assigned subject area. Provide in‑class assistance to students with Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), helping them stay focused and on task. Monitor and report behavior problems; take notes on material being instructed, re‑teach/teach material, and assist students with completion of homework, classroom projects, and use of technology/computer. Prepare IEP students for quizzes and tests (e.g., study sessions, review games) and create/adapt quiz and test preparation materials. Administer quizzes/tests as per IEP under guidance of classroom teacher and learning support teacher. Attend/participate in IEP and team meetings when required and become familiar with students' IEPs. Provide support to assigned department (English, Math, Science, ESL, etc.), assisting with preparation and set‑up of learning activities, monitoring students, and providing one‑on‑one assistance with learning activities and test taking in class and through tutoring. Teach learning strategies to individuals and small groups in one or multiple subject areas and develop/implement learning activities (e.g., flashcards, worksheets). Record assessment data and perform testing for special needs students. Read IEPs and provide information to teachers and others assisting the student, and assist with student supervision in hallways, at breakfast, during assemblies, and at the beginning and end of the school day. Perform other duties as assigned (office support, cafeteria duty, recess duty, etc.). Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; advanced training or degree preferred. Current First Aid and CPR certification. Must have (or be willing to obtain) current PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI criminal history background checks. Hourly Rate $14.40–$19.15. Step placement shall be based on years of service recognized by employer.
