Patent Prosecution Specialist

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP is seeking a Patent Prosecution Specialist in its Washington, DC office for the Intellectual Property Patent Support Unit. The role reports to the Senior Manager of Patent Support Services and focuses on supporting activities related to patent prosecution and filing of documents for international and foreign national applications. Key Responsibilities Prepare and file documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office such as New Patent Applications, IDS, Preliminary Amendments, formalities, and other required filings. Prepare client reporting letters and correspondence regarding formalities, Official Actions, Notices of Allowance, and Letters Patent. Prepare and file documents related to international and foreign national patent applications, including filings with the World Intellectual Property Office International Bureau and foreign national patent offices. Analyze PTO‑issued documents for accuracy (e.g., filing receipts, assignment documents, certificates of correction). Create patent prosecution documents, including transcribing instructions, producing patent applications, correspondence, reports, memoranda, proofreading, redlining, photocopying, assembly, and distribution. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 3‑5 years of relevant patent prosecution experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Strong organizational skills to prioritize work and balance multiple projects. Ability to work well under pressure and collaborate effectively in a team environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills with exceptional attention to detail. Proficiency in CPI Patent, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), WorkSite, Adobe Acrobat, Legal MacPac, Outlook, Office Communicator, and iManage. Benefits Medical coverage with a variety of plans. Salary for this position ranges from $72,200 to $115,550, with additional compensation components such as 401(k) eligibility, paid time off, and other benefits.
