CNC Machinist (Wire EDM or CNC Grinder Experience) Location: Elyria, OH Employment Type: Union - Full Time Direct Industry: Aerospace Compensation: $35.14 / hour during 90 day training period; then $36.19 / hour $1,000 start bonus plus pension! About the Opportunity All CNC machinist openings at this Union plant are 2nd shift initially. Hours are Monday‑Friday 3:00 pm‑11:30 pm. There is a 90 day mandatory training period at the $35.14 rate, then the position pays $36.19 after training. This is a Union facility with a pension at 5 years. The first 90 days in training are on day shift from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Afterwards all new machinist have to start on 2nd shift. If 1st shift is desired, the new employee can put his/her name on the 1st shift waiting list. Due to the benefits of being in a Union, there is a long 1st shift wait list. What You’ll Do Process rotors through various machining, EDM, and supporting operations in a team‑oriented cell. Responsible for maintaining cell inventory. Set up and operate numerically controlled machines and other equipment. Make and verify any necessary corrections to program, set up, tooling and machine settings with the assistance of the Supervisor and/or Manufacturing Engineer. Use various gauges when required. Provide a finish in accordance with the manufacturing outline and blueprint requirements including removal of burrs and edge breaks. Saw material as necessary. Clean and move parts as necessary. Pass an annual eye exam. Responsible for product verification and process control including using necessary measuring devices. Keep charts and records as required on completed sequences and processes. Rotate to different workstations within the cell. Perform required rework, secondary operations, routine maintenance per Appendix A, and appropriate safety checks in the cell. Document all non‑conformances through specified data collection procedures. Inspect work and verify that product meets all appropriate standards at each operational step in the cell. Complete all required paperwork. Ensure all material is properly cleaned, identified, protected, and stacked prior to movement. Work with internal and external customers and suppliers and participate in continuous improvement activities as required. Complete all required documentation including operator inspection records, job routers, NCR’s, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets. Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor. Utilize computer to access various databases. What You’ll Bring (Requirements) High School diploma or GED. Minimum 3 years (5 years preferred, or trade school plus 2 years) of CNC experience with Wire EDM or CNC Grinder. Minimum 2 years of experience setting up CNC machines and doing setups (know setup/offset/make edit/inspect parts). Minimum 2 years of experience with fixtures, cutting tools, and selecting and dressing wheels for finish requirements. ITAR aerospace facility – U.S. Persons required; ability to obtain a Secret clearance required. What Sets You Apart (Preferred) CNC OD Grinder experience. Fanuc controls (other controls experience acceptable). Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
