JOB SUMMARY

Eastside Catholic School is seeking a full-time High School Dean of Students for the 2026–27 school year. This is a 10-month, school-year position (mid-August through mid-June) that reports to the High School Assistant Principal.

As a key member of our student support and leadership team, the High School Dean of Students helps create and sustain a safe, respectful and inclusive school environment. The Dean serves as a visible and proactive presence in the school community, building positive relationships with students, staff and families. Working collaboratively with a team of deans, school leadership, counselors and faculty, the Dean addresses student behavior and attendance concerns and works to engage all stakeholders in delivering programs and services to support student development.

This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about building relationships with students, strengthening school culture and partnering with families and colleagues to support student success.

Specific Responsibilities

· Manage student discipline and attendance concerns using equitable and restorative practices

· Schedule and facilitate parent and/or teacher conferences regarding behavior or attendance issues

· Counsel students, as appropriate, individually or in small groups

· Develop and lead proactive, restorative programs foster positive student behavior, strengthen school culture and encourage healthy student interactions

· Keep school leadership informed of significant student discipline matters and issues affecting school life

· Coach and support faculty in managing behaviors by building strong relationships, setting clear expectations and fostering positive classroom cultures

· Supervise students outside the classroom, including during arrivals and dismissal, lunch periods, passing periods, assemblies, parking lot supervision, extracurricular activities, etc.

· Attend and supervise school social events on or off campus as needed, including dances and athletic competitions

· Maintain accurate student discipline records, prepare required reports in a timely manner and retain records in accordance with legal and school policy requirements

· Support the Incident Response Team and model established safety protocols and procedures

· Remain attentive to student behaviors that may indicate social, emotional or personal concerns including bullying, harassment, distress or other indicators that profanity, teasing, bullying, distress, or other indicators that warrant intervention

· Partner with faculty and staff to address student behaviors inconsistent with the Student and Family Handbook and develop and supports behavior intervention plans when needed

· Participate in professional growth opportunities, as appropriate

· Build positive relationships with students, faculty, staff and families while serving as a positive role model

· Promptly notify the Director of Communications of issues that may affect school communications, community relations or media response and notify the Incident Response Team of situations requiring emergency response

· Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the principals

· Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

· Strong ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, faculty and staff across all school constituencies

· Demonstrated success working collaboratively as part of a student support and administrative team, in particular a willingness to contribute in a respectful, collaborative way within a three-dean model

· Flexible, mature and professional with a positive attitude and a sense of humor

· Proven ability to handle confidential information with utmost discretion

· Commitment to fostering a respectful, welcoming, and student-centered school community where every student feels valued, supported and has the opportunity to thrive

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use school information systems

· Highly organized with experience coordinating across academic and non-academic departments

· Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, including extended periods of standing, walking throughout campus, student engagement and regular computer use up to four hours per day

Education and experience

· Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred

· Three or more years in school administration or educational leadership strongly preferred

· Prior teaching experience preferred

· Experience working with high school students in a school or educational setting
