The office is responsible for maintaining ODH computer networks and servers and for the development and implementation of strategies that support the current and future technology needs of the agency.We are seeking a Software Development Specialist 1 to develop and/or modify programs for computer applications, perform testing and debugging and assist with analysis and design. The primary technology for this position is Software Testing/Quality Assurance (QA) Tools.This position will:Write manual and automated test cases and/or scripts for unit and systems testing to validate software functionality, usability and performance with minimal to no supervisionExecute test scripts and assist in executing functional test scripts independentlyVerify and document test results to ensure software is producing desired resultsAssist in creating and maintaining test cases, test scripts, and test data to conduct performance testing and security scanningCreate or set-up test data for performing test scenariosAssist in supporting user acceptance testingPerform software implementation tasks, including source control and deployment activitiesCreate and/or modify necessary software testing documentation (e.g., test plan, test cases, automated test scripts, performance testing scripts) in accordance with agency standardsUse report generators, data manipulation tools, data query tools (e.g., SQL), program tracing/debugging tools, software development tools and versioning tools as requiredNormal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is an hourly position, with a pay range of 33 on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 33, Step 1 of the union (OCSEA) Pay Range Schedule ($34.53 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($36.20 per hour) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.Application Procedures: We only accept applications submitted online through this portal (careers.ohio.gov).
