About the job Senior Tax Associate
About the Role:
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and other business entities.
- Collaborate with tax professionals to complete all phases of tax engagements, including tax compliance, tax planning, client consulting, and special projects.
- Gather, organize, and analyze financial and tax-related information to ensure accurate and timely tax return preparation.
- Research tax issues and evaluate tax situations to identify opportunities for tax savings and regulatory compliance.
- Develop practical tax solutions and communicate recommendations to engagement teams and clients.
- Prepare accounting-related reports and supporting documentation within a paperless, technology-driven work environment.
- Maintain organized workpapers and ensure compliance with firm quality standards and professional regulations.
- Build strong client relationships by responding to inquiries and providing proactive, professional service.
- Assist with tax research, planning strategies, and consulting engagements for a variety of industries.
- Mentor and train Associates by providing technical guidance, reviewing work, and supporting professional development.
- Stay current on changes to federal, state, and local tax laws, IRS regulations, and accounting standards.
- Participate in continuing education, professional development programs, and networking opportunities to enhance technical and leadership skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Active Certified Public Accountant, CPA, license or progress toward CPA licensure preferred. Enrolled Agent, EA, certification is also accepted.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of public accounting tax experience.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws, tax accounting principles, and IRS regulations.
- Experience preparing tax returns for individuals and multiple business entity types.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced public accounting environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software, Microsoft Office Suite, and accounting technology platforms.
- Commitment to maintaining technical knowledge through ongoing professional education.
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
- Progress toward obtaining a CPA license if not already licensed.
- Experience supporting tax planning, consulting engagements, and tax research projects.
- Knowledge of tax compliance for multiple entity types and industries.
- Experience mentoring or training junior accounting professionals.
- Familiarity with paperless workflow systems, tax technology, and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional client service and maintaining high-quality work standards.
