Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Valid state nursing license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Travelers must live at least 50 miles away from the facility. First-time travelers accepted. Description: This position is for a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit. The shift is three 12-hour days per week from 07:00 to 19:30. Ratios typically range from 1:5 to 1:6, with potential increases to 1:7 during call-ins. Orientation period is included. This unit consists of 46 beds and primarily cares for patients undergoing trauma surgery, bariatric surgery, abdominal surgery, and amputation surgery. The unit also handles urological issues and overflow medically and cardiac patients. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. Holiday requirements include working every other holiday. The average daily census is around 40 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Social Services, and Pharmacy. The primary patient populations include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Facility charting is done using a designated electronic medical record system. Travelers must have experience with managing telemetry and medical surgical patients. Skills required include managing cardiac telemetry, IV administration, and wound care. Additional skills in non-invasive airway management and post-operative care are essential. Teamwork and professional conduct are critical in this position. All travelers must abide by conduct policies to ensure a high standard of care and professionalism.
