The Project Manager plans and supervises a wide range of construction projects from start to finish. You will organize and oversee construction procedures to ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner, managing everything from initial conception to the finished structure. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Project Oversight & Coordination
- Interface daily with construction professionals, architects, and clients.
- Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and plan sets.
- Review and process submittals, RFIs, change proposals, and owner change orders.
- Conduct onsite meetings with stakeholders and construction crews to ensure project feasibility.
- Support quality control and the punch list process through to project closeout.
- Create and update project budgets and schedules.
- Estimate construction management and self-perform work items.
- Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Prepare and present project proposals, value engineering, and clarifications to clients.
- Prepare project billings, cost projections, and approve subcontractor payments.
- Identify and respond to potential issues to minimize negative impacts.
- Ensure the safety of the work environment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Directly supervise Project Engineers, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on owner contracts and strategic planning.
- Foster a spirit of cooperation and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills; ability to speak persuasively and listen effectively.
- Problem Solving: Sound judgment and the ability to make timely decisions under pressure.
- Adaptability: Ability to manage frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership: Inspires respect and trust; effectively influences key decision-makers and manages conflict.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of related construction project management experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project) and Bluebeam. Knowledge of Viewpoint or AIA Construction Software is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent phone etiquette and the ability to write routine reports, memos, and professional correspondence.
- Must be able to navigate office environments and active construction sites (including climbing stairs, kneeling, or crouching).
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
