Key Responsibilities: As a Certified Police Officer with the City of Thomaston, you'll take on a range of critical duties, including:

Required Qualifications: To qualify for this role, you must possess:

  • Certification: Hold a valid Georgia Basic Peace Officer Certification, showcasing your dedication to maintaining the highest standards of law enforcement professionalism.
  • Experience: Bring one to two years of experience as a Certified Police Officer, equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the field.
  • License and Record: Maintain a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable motor vehicle record, enabling you to respond swiftly to calls and maintain a safe community.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Demonstrate unwavering dedication to public safety by passing extensive background checks, psychological screenings, and pre-employment physicals and drug screenings.
  • Education: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, complemented by specialized training in law enforcement principles and practices.

Preferred Qualifications: While not mandatory, the following attributes are highly valued:

  • Community Engagement: Prior involvement in community policing, crime prevention, or outreach programs, showcasing your ability to build trust and rapport with diverse populations.
  • Specialized Training: Additional certifications or training in areas such as crisis intervention, narcotics investigation, or K-9 handling, enhancing your effectiveness in various law enforcement tasks.
