Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Health & Safety Specialist to support and continuously improve health and safety programs within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will partner with manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to identify workplace hazards, reduce risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a strong safety culture.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of progressive health and safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy-production environment. Candidates with experience supporting large manufacturing operations and 500+ employees are highly preferred.

Ideal industry backgrounds include automotive, tire, chemical, paper, aerospace, defense, steel, metals, plastics, or other heavy-production manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety programs, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Partner with manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards and occupational health risks.
• Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and workplace inspections.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities.
• Monitor safety metrics, injury trends, workers' compensation data, and regulatory reporting.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections and serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver safety training for employees, contractors, supervisors, and leadership.
• Support emergency preparedness, emergency response, and crisis management activities.
• Lead safety committees and employee safety engagement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement safety-related projects and process improvements.
• Provide analytical and technical support for health and safety issues.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation and regulatory records.
• Support off-shift safety incidents, emergencies, investigations, and audits as required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive health and safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, or heavy-production environments.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and health and safety compliance requirements.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Experience with safety audits, risk assessments, hazard identification, and job hazard analyses.
• Knowledge of industrial ergonomics, machine guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and contractor safety.
• Experience developing and delivering safety training.
• Experience with OSHA recordkeeping, injury and illness reporting, and regulatory documentation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to independently lead safety initiatives.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels and influence safety improvements across the organization.
• Ability to work onsite in Graniteville, SC and support off-shift incidents and emergencies when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST).
• First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification.
• Experience leading EHS initiatives in large manufacturing or industrial operations.
• Experience supporting 500+ employees.
• Experience in automotive, tire, chemical, paper, aerospace, defense, steel, metals, plastics, or other heavy-production environments.
