- Performs developmental assignments consisting of tasks which have been selected to develop skills to the Journey Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic level. Works with highest graded mechanics repairing and maintaining a variety of domestic and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units and systems used to condition areas and cool equipment.
- Selects tools, decides on methods and techniques to use, and installs a variety of parts including major portions of assigned systems and equipment, applying and interpreting information in blueprints, charts, and sketches. Replaces separate small air conditioning units and small systems.
- Recognizes the cause of faulty equipment. Traces and locates defects, determines nature and extent of repairs required, selects appropriate tools, testing devices, and work sequence.
- Utilizes established safety practices, rules, regulations, and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
