Registered Nurse Operating Room

Job Summary:

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room provides specialized perioperative nursing care, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout surgical procedures. This role involves direct patient assessment, procedural support, and collaboration with surgical teams to deliver quality outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient needs and unit standards.
  
  
• 
  Prepare the operating room suite by arranging supplies, equipment, medications, and ensuring readiness for surgical procedures.
  
  
• 
  Assist in positioning and prepping patients for surgery using appropriate aides and safety protocols.
  
  
• 
  Support surgical teams during procedures by responding to needs such as extra supplies, blood, specimens, and medications.
  
  
• 
  Transport patients to and from the OR suite, ensuring safety and proper handoff to receiving staff.
  
  
• 
  Document all nursing care accurately and maintain up-to-date records to facilitate communication among the healthcare team.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Hold a valid Illinois RN license in good standing.
  
  
• 
  Possess a minimum of three (3) years of relevant nursing experience, preferably in perioperative or surgical settings.
  
  
• 
  Be BLS certified (American Heart Association).
  
  
• 
  Demonstrate proficiency in patient assessment, surgical support, and safety procedures in the operating room.
  
  
• 
  Exhibit strong communication skills and teamwork capabilities.
